Martin joined LGBRC in 2015. His primary interest is road racing. In 2016 he has upgraded to a cat 4 elite racer!

When asked how he got into cycling, Martin replied, "I grew up in Switzerland where riding a bike was one of the main means of transportation. As such I always used a bike for utilitarian purposes. My initial passion for more "serious" cycling was mountain biking. Early in the year 2000 though (who can forget that year!) a friend convinced me to go on a "road" ride - and I was hooked."

We asked Martin what he considers his greatest cycling achievement. He replied, "There are probably two events. I completed my 4th or 5th Deathride 4 weeks after having micro-fracture surgery and then being 6 weeks on crutches. Don't ask about total time! In 2014 I completed my first, the 2 day Everest Challenge."

"I spent my professional career as an executive in the High Tech industry. Throughout my life however, I always had a passion for sports and fitness; skiing, running, cycling and tennis among others while still working with Start-Up companies. I am now focusing my energies on this passion for sports and fitness."

He adds, "I have been a ride leader for Thomson Bike Tours and Studio Velo, leading challenging, high performance bike tours in Europe. I am also a certified Spin instructor, teaching in Palo Alto and Menlo Park."
