Andre Swart

Andre is a junior racer who joined LGBRC in 2010. He joined the Sunday Social Ride in late 2009, finding that he could easily ride with the stronger members of the group.

When asked how he first got interested in cycling, he comments, " In 2008, my family and a few of our friends took a camping trip to Sonoma County. We planned a fifty mile cycling trip that would take us by several vineyards along the way. Being my first real bike ride, I believed that I could easily finish but after a couple of hours, I was helplessly wishing for the miles to pass by more rapidly. After this agonizing experience on the bike, I was determined to improve and have been involved in cycling ever since. "

"When I'm not cycling, I'm usually completing school related assignments. As a junior in high school, I'm worried about SAT's, wondering what college I will be attending, visualizing my future career, and dealing with the general increased workload that is associated with these things. Additionally, I am interested in classical guitar and have been studying it for nine years." ..."2010 is my first year racing. So far I have only participated in the Early Bird Series but I'm eager to race more and plan to do both criterium and road races. "
