![]() John Sevic John is a cross country mountain bike
racer who joined the LGBRC in 2001. He
first raced BMX when he was in junior-high
and high-school, and got back into after
finishing grad school. After racing downhill
for several years, he moved into cross
country mountain bike racing, and started
road-riding in the fall of '01 for training.
When asked what he considers his greatest cycling achievement, he responds, "Getting first-place at the Downieville DH summer of '01. " "I planned all summer for this race, and tried to peak for it. The win made me feel comfortable with the kind of training necessary for winning. Training is highly individual, and part of the reason it takes years to move into expert class is that it takes that long to discover what works for you - and often that's done by discovering what does not work first - at least that was my experience..." His background: "I have a BSEE and MSEE from Michigan Tech. and Univ. of Illinois. My career is focused on development of microwave semiconductors used in wireless communication systems, such as cell-phones. " "I joined LGBRC to meet and train with riders at or above my level. Every one I have met at LGBRC has been very helpful, patient, and sharing - it has been my pleasure to have met such a great group of riders. I have certainly become a better rider through their help. I presently spend much more time on my road bike than my mountain bike, even in the summer during the peak of the XC race season. My long-term goal is to move into expert class in '04. My training philosophy is based on developing a year-long periodization-based training plan, sticking to it, and measuring your improvement." |
