Samantha, or "Samo" as she
likes to be called, is a Cat 4
road and crit rider who joined LGBRC
in 2008.
When we asked Samo how she got
into cycling, she replied, "So, I'm
a runner. One of those popular
running injuries, plantar fasciitis,
tagged me and that was it for about half
a year. During that time, I did a lot
of stationary biking, and when I returned
to running, the biking stuck around
as cross-training. A few people said
I should try racing, so here I am."
Even though she's a recent convert
to cycling, we asked her what she
considers her most notable achievement
so far. She replied, "I'm still very
much a newbie to this sport, but
I'm proud to have won a prime in
the Early Birds last year on my hybrid
bike."
What else does she do? "When I'm
not riding, I run, hike, lift weights,
swim, garden, and surf the internet.
Oh! And I get paid to look at ugly
pictures and problems and make them
pretty (or make them go away for
the problems)."
Her goals:
* Conquer steep-hill climbing fear
* Stay with the lead gals in races
* Do a track stand
Her final comment, "Cats Rule!"
