Rob is a Category 3 racer, specializing in
track. He has been in the local racing scene
for a number of years and comments, "I
did my first race as an Intermediate (now called
Junior 13-14) in 1975 when I lived in Palo
Alto, but didn't race seriously until I started
collegiate racing at Santa Clara University
in the 1980s. I achieved Cat 2 status on both
Track and Road in the 1980s and road Friday
Night Madisons regularly, and was the first
Collegeiate Human Powered Vehicle Collegiate
speed record holder in 1984." "My wife Diana and I are co-owners of Testarossa Vineyards in Los Gatos and are avid cyclists. She has done several centuries including the Sequoia Century. Both of our Children, Nick and Claire love cycling and are LGBRC members. They both regularly participate in the track program and have raced at Junior Nationals in Trexlertown, PA, and have both ridden on the 45 degree banking at the indoor ADT Velodrome in Los Angeles." When asked what his cycling goals are, "My
goal is to compete for a Masters 45-499 NorCal/Nevada
State Track Championship, and get back to Category
2 on the road and track. I'd also like to break
the 20 minute barrier up Old Lahonda again.
So far, my best modern era time is 21:35, not
bad for a 6' 2" trackie, I'd say." | ||||
