About
Nikka:
Nikka is a junior cyclist
who joined LGBRC in 2006. She is an
awesome climber who especially excels
at Road Racing.
When asked to explain how she got started
in cycling, she comments, "My dad,
Greg, (also an LGBRC member) is an
avid cyclist. As far back as I can
remember, he was always riding. Sometimes
he lugged me along with him on our
trail-a-bike. We would always watch
the Tour de France together, cheering
for USP. After I learned how to ride,
I set a goal to learn to ride up Cat's
Hill. When I learned it was a race,
I was going to do it for sure, which
led me to buying my first road bike.
I figured that with a bike as great
as this one, I couldn't just use it
for one race! Soon I was racing in
Early Birds, Snelling, Cherry Pie Crit,
Sunday socials, Copperopolis, and the
Hellyer Park Velodrome. Looking forward
to nationals!
Her greatest cycling achievement so
far? "That's an easy one. Winning the
2008 SJBC/SugarCRM Memorial Day Crit.
That was probably the most rewarding
win ever!"
Be sure to watch for Nikka's future
cycling achievements!
Nikka was mentioned
in the Los Gatos Weekly-Times in March
of 2007.
