About Michael
Michael has contributed much
to the LGBRC since joining in 1995. He has recently upgraded
to Category 2. Michael also races on the track. He is the club
vice president and has chaired the Cat's Hill Committee for the
past two years.
When asked what attracted
him to cycling, he says, "Cycling was originally a form
of cross-training for my running. I started by commuting to work
on my bike. Soon I was joining weekend group rides, and that
led to a desire to race. I checked out other racing clubs, but
found LGBRC to be the most inviting."

His greatest cycling achievements:
"I would like to think that my greatest accomplishments
lie ahead of me. However, I am very proud to have played a key
role in putting on the '99 and 2000 Cats Hill Criteriums."
"I find that I need constant challenges in my life -- both
on and off the bike. Consequently my professional life seems
to be in constant flux, as I tend to shake things up frequently
in search of new challenges. I've spent many years as a research
biologist working at Stanford, Syntex, and CV Therapeutics. Recently
I reinvented my career and I'm now leveraging my MBA degree by
managing external business development at Motorola's Lexicus
division."
When not spending time riding,
racing, or wrenching on his various bikes, he tries to find time
to enjoy good food, wine, photography, travel and music. He likes
to describe himself as "the big kid with too many hobbies."
His motto: "Sleep is a waste of time...life will pass you
by as you sleep."
" LGBRC is a wonderful
blend of dedicated athletes and interesting personalities that
I enjoy both on and off the bike. Often other cycling clubs take
themselves too seriously and forget how to have fun on the bike
or interact with teammates outside the cycling world. Many of
my closest friendships I owe to LGBRC. The club is a catalyst
for racing as well as socializing. Finally, I appreciate that
our membership has great diversity in age, professional background,
and cycling experience."
