Matt is a Category 2 racer, specializing in road racing. He says, "I started racing as a junior in high school. Of course being a bit of a masochist I chose a 3 day, 4 stage, Stage Race as my first event. The 7-11 Junior team with a bunch of future pro's showed up and I got killed every stage! But I finished! From there the bug took and I've been racing ever since.

When asked what he considers his greatest cdycling achievement, Matt replies, "In January of 2004 I passed the Elite Coaching course through USA Cycling! This is the top tier of professional coaching in the US and there are currently only ~100 Elite Coaches in the US. As an Athlete I'd have to say winning the Colorado State Criterium Championship (cat 2) or being selected to the Olympic Training Center's Elite Rider Camp are my proudest moments.

"This year I started my own coaching company, Sterling Sports Group. My day job is professional coach and trainer. I also got married in Italy in May to my wife, Starr (not team rider Starr Falk though lol!!). We are expecting our first baby in February, yay!"
"In 1996 I started my first team in Boulder, CO. Team Bonk had 26 wins that year including Mens Sport and Expert Categories of the Colorado Off Road Points Series. From there I went on to manage the Specialized/Mt Dew Pro MTB Team for a year and had the chance to travel the world and work with Ned Overend, Olympic Gold Medalist Bart Brentjens and DH Super- freak Shaun Palmer. Now that was an experience!!"
