Dennis Hopp

Dennis is a Category 1/Pro racer. Primarily a road racer, he rejoined LGBRC in 2001.

What attracted him to cycling: "I began cycling by accident about 11 years ago while trying to stay in shape. I entered my first race, The Cat's Hill Criterium. I did the 5 lap public race. It was the hardest thing I ever did. After my race I stayed to watch the 1/2 Pro race. I was so impressed that those guys could go up that hill 40 times and make it look easy! After that expierence I was hooked. I remember telling my friends that day that I wanted to be like one of those 1/2 Pro guys!!!"

His Greatest cycling achievement: "Becoming the Elite Mens Team Captain for LGBRC Easton/Specialized. Over the past 3 years building a great team made up of up some outstanding athletes. Both on and off the bike! That for me I am very proud of. "

His Other Interests/job: "I am an Enterprise Sales Manager for a major wireless software company. I have been married for almost 10 years, I have a beautiful wife and 2 year old daughter. Without their support, I would not be racing. Plus when my daughter yells out "Go Daddy" at the races. You cannot help but race even harder. "

Additional comments: " My biggest goal personally would be to take home a stars and stripes jersey at the Masters Nationals. Other than that I would like to see the LGBRC Easton Specialized Mens team reach even higher and be the best team in Northern California.

My philosophy has always been nothing is a substitute for riding your bike, except riding your bike. Other than that, train hard, race even harder. "
