Geoffrey Barrall

Geoffrey joined Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club in 2016 after riding on the Saturday training rides.
He states, "I have been riding most of my life starting with BMX as a kid, riding my 10 speed to high school, riding to class in high school and commuting to work. In 1990 I started mountain biking and began going on rides just to go on a ride. More recently, I joined the San Diego Descenders in 2009 and began going on much longer rides. He lists as a significant cycling achievement: climbing Horseshoe Meadows and Whitney Portal in one day, 65 miles with 10,500 ft of climbing at a base elevation of 3,700 ft.!"

"Besides riding I enjoy brewing beer and camping with the family. I recently moved from San Diego to San Jose although I grew up in South San Jose. My career drew me back to the area."

When he's not on a bike? "I am currently developing a massively parallel nanopore sequencing system for Roche."

LGBRC welcomes Geoffrey!
